Then I accomplished what I set out to do, late last night, running on fumes. I know what I wrote is true for myself because I was surprised. When I’m surprised — in prophetic dreams, music reviews & circumstances like “Little Jeannie” and “Mandy” — I tend to be right. Oftentimes, artists will also be surprised that I captured them to their core, even when they think nobody will discern their moods during the recording of a specific piece of music. I can hear it. In a way, I use what is perceived as weakness (an abusive childhood, victim of racism, being called a loser and a freak)…as a surprising strength.
Surprise. That’s the key of life. One I’m constantly running from, to stay in my comfort zone.
Thank you for getting it. Getting me.
